TheFindBuzz uncovers the latest blogosphere and publish latest fashion buzz.
Moonrank started this project in early 2008 and has been adding new features since then. Biggest challenge for this project was to provide voting, comments and tagging for few million records pushed every five minutes. A search engine daemon powered by parent CompanyTheFind Inc crawls almost a million active blogs related to 150 Million products in 500,000 online stores.
Moonrank provided a distributed architecture that can flawlessly scales for huge records. In first iteration project started with Pligg but later whole site had been rewritten and database was refactored according to TheFind's proprietary web infrastructure. We had to balanced load by denormalizing the MySQL, data mirroring and incorporating a Caching subsystem. We also connect it with TheFind Content Delivery Network.
TheFind home page shows category wise summary of news which gives a friendly picture of the site. It was revealed that regular tagging hardly works for such Fashion and Lifestyle portals. Therefore, sitemaps were made such a way it gives better visibility in search engines.Stories were links to related posts and products and they are further connected to Designers, Celebrities and regular Shopping keywords. Moonrank in later phase developed a a Javascript Widget and OpenSocial gadget so that user can syndicate news updates in Glimpse, other social network and blogs.
